ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਕਰਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ sabh kichh sunadaa vekhadaa kiau mukar peaa jaae | He hears and sees everything. How can anyone deny Him? - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਾਪੋ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਪਾਪੇ ਪਚਹਿ ਪਚਾਇ ॥ paapo paap kamaavade paape pacheh pachaae | Those who sin again and again, shall rot and die in sin. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ so prabh nadar na aavee manamukh boojh na paae | God’s Glance of Grace does not come to them; those self-willed manmukhs do not obtain understanding. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ ਸੋਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੬॥ jis vekhaale soee vekhai naanak guramukh paae |4|23|56| They alone see the Lord, unto whom He reveals Himself. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs find Him. ||4||23||56|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀੜ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ bin gur rog na tuttee haumai peerr na jaae | Without the Guru, the disease is not cured, and the pain of egotism is not removed. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ gur parasaadee man vasai naame rahai samaae | By Guru’s Grace, He dwells in the mind, and one remains immersed in His Name. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ gurasabadee har paaeeai bin sabadai bharam bhulaae |1| Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the Lord is found; without the Shabad, people wander, deceived by doubt. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ man re nij ghar vaasaa hoe | O mind, dwell in the balanced state of your own inner being. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ raam naam saalaeh too fir aavan jaan na hoe |1| rahaau | Praise the Lord’s Name, and you shall no longer come and go in reincarnation. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ har iko daataa varatadaa doojaa avar na koe | The One Lord alone is the Giver, pervading everywhere. There is no other at all. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ sabad saalaahee man vasai sahaje hee sukh hoe | Praise the Word of the Shabad, and He shall come to dwell in your mind; you shall be blessed with intuitive peace and poise. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਭ ਨਦਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥ sabh nadaree andar vekhadaa jai bhaavai tai dee |2| Everything is within the Lord’s Glance of Grace. As He wishes, He gives. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭਾ ਗਣਤ ਹੈ ਗਣਤੈ ਨਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ haumai sabhaa ganat hai ganatai nau sukh naeh | In egotism, all must account for their actions. In this accounting, there is no peace. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥ bikh kee kaar kamaavanee bikh hee maeh samaeh | Acting in evil and corruption, people are immersed in corruption. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ bin naavai tthaur na paaeinee jamapur dookh sahaeh |3| Without the Name, they find no place of rest. In the City of Death, they suffer in agony. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ jeeo pindd sabh tis daa tisai daa aadhaar | Body and soul all belong to Him; He is the Support of all. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ gur parasaadee bujheeai taa paae mokh duaar | By Guru’s Grace, understanding comes, and then the Door of Liberation is found. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੭॥ naanak naam salaeh toon ant na paaraavaar |4|24|57| O Nanak, sing the Praises of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He has no end or limitation. ||4||24||57|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਿਨਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ tinaa anand sadaa sukh hai jinaa sach naam aadhaar | Those who have the Support of the True Name are in ecstasy and peace forever. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ gurasabadee sach paaeaa dookh nivaaranahaar | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, they obtain the True One, the Destroyer of pain. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ sadaa sadaa saache gun gaaveh saachai naae piaar | Forever and ever, they sing the Glorious Praises of the True One; they love the True Name. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਤੋਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ kirapaa kar kai aapanee diton bhagat bhanddaar |1| When the Lord Himself grants His Grace, He bestows the treasure of devotion. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ man re sadaa anand gun gaae | O mind, sing His Glorious Praises, and be in ecstasy forever. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sachee baanee har paaeeai har siau rahai samaae |1| rahaau | Through the True Word of His Bani, the Lord is obtained, and one remains immersed in the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ sachee bhagatee man laal theea rataa sehaj subhaae | In true devotion, the mind is dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord’s Love, with intuitive peace and poise. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ gurasabadee man mohiaa kahanaa kachhoo na jaae | The mind is fascinated by the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, which cannot be described. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ jihavaa ratee sabad sachai amrit peevai ras gun gaae | The tongue imbued with the True Word of the Shabad drinks in the Amrit with delight, singing His Glorious Praises. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ guramukh ehu rang paaeeai jis no kirapaa kare rajaae |2| The Gurmukh obtains this love, when the Lord, in His Will, grants His Grace. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੰਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ sansaa ihu sansaar hai sutiaa rain vihaae | This world is an illusion; people pass their life-nights sleeping. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਕਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ eik aapanai bhaanai kadt leian aape leon milaae | By the Pleasure of His Will, He lifts some out, and unites them with Himself. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇ ॥ aape hee aap man vasiaa maaeaa mohu chukaae | He Himself abides in the mind, and drives out attachment to Maya. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੩॥ aap vaddaaee diteean guramukh dee bujhaae |3| He Himself bestows glorious greatness; He inspires the Gurmukh to understand. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਲਏ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥ sabhanaa kaa daataa ek hai bhuliaa le samajhaae | The One Lord is the Giver of all. He corrects those who make mistakes. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਛਡਿਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ eik aape aap khuaaeian doojai chhaddian laae | He Himself has deceived some, and attached them to duality. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ guramatee har paaeeai jotee jot milaae | Through the Guru’s Teachings, the Lord is found, and one’s light merges into the Light. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੮॥ anadin naame ratiaa naanak naam samaae |4|25|58| Attuned to the Name of the Lord night and day, O Nanak, you shall be absorbed into the Name. ||4||25||58|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ gurasabadee man rangiaa rasanaa prem piaar | Their minds are imbued with the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; the Love of their Beloved is on their tongues. - Guru Amardas Ji
