ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ sireeraag mahalaa 3 | Siree Raag, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਲੋਭਾਣੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥ amrit chhodd bikhiaa lobhaane sevaa kareh viddaanee | Discarding the Ambrosial Nectar, they greedily grab the poison; they serve others, instead of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪਣਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥ aapanaa dharam gavaaveh boojheh naahee anadin dukh vihaanee | They lose their faith, they have no understanding; night and day, they suffer in pain. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਚੇਤਹੀ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ manamukh andh na chetahee ddoob mue bin paanee |1| The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not even think of the Lord; they are drowned to death without water. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਭਜਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ man re sadaa bhajahu har saranaaee | O mind, vibrate and meditate forever on the Lord; seek the Protection of His Sanctuary. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur kaa sabad antar vasai taa har visar na jaaee |1| rahaau | If the Word of the Guru’s Shabad abides deep within, then you shall not forget the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੁਤਲਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਸਟੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ eihu sareer maaeaa kaa putalaa vich haumai dusattee paaee | This body is the puppet of Maya. The evil of egotism is within it. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣਾ ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥ aavan jaanaa jaman maranaa manamukh pat gavaaee | Coming and going through birth and death, the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੨॥ satagur sev sadaa sukh paaeaa jotee jot milaaee |2| Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is obtained, and one’s light merges into the Light. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਜੋ ਇਛੇ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ satagur kee sevaa at sukhaalee jo ichhe so fal paae | Serving the True Guru brings a deep and profound peace, and one’s desires are fulfilled. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਤਪੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ jat sat tap pavit sareeraa har har man vasaae | Abstinence, truthfulness and self-discipline are obtained, and the body is purified; the Lord, Har, Har, comes to dwell within the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥ sadaa anand rahai din raatee mil preetam sukh paae |3| Such a person remains blissful forever, day and night. Meeting the Beloved, peace is found. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੋ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ jo satagur kee saranaagatee hau tin kai bal jaau | I am a sacrifice to those who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥ dar sachai sachee vaddiaaee sahaje sach samaau | In the Court of the True One, they are blessed with true greatness; they are intuitively absorbed into the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੪੫॥ naanak nadaree paaeeai guramukh mel milaau |4|12|45| O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace He is found; the Gurmukh is united in His Union. ||4||12||45|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਜਿਉ ਦੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ manamukh karam kamaavane jiau dohaagan tan seegaar | The self-willed manmukh performs religious rituals, like the unwanted bride decorating her body. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ sejai kant na aavee nit nit hoe khuaar | Her Husband Lord does not come to her bed; day after day, she grows more and more miserable. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਨਾ ਦੀਸੈ ਘਰੁ ਬਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ pir kaa mehal na paavee naa deesai ghar baar |1| She does not attain the Mansion of His Presence; she does not find the door to His House. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ bhaaee re ik man naam dhiaae | O Siblings of Destiny, meditate on the Naam with one-pointed mind. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ santaa sangat mil rahai jap raam naam sukh paae |1| rahaau | Remain united with the Society of the Saints; chant the Name of the Lord, and find peace. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ guramukh sadaa sohaaganee pir raakhiaa ur dhaar | The Gurmukh is the happy and pure soul-bride forever. She keeps her Husband Lord enshrined within her heart. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਿਠਾ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਸੇਜੈ ਰਵੈ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥ mitthaa boleh niv chaleh sejai ravai bhataar | Her speech is sweet, and her way of life is humble. She enjoys the Bed of her Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਹੇਤੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ sobhaavantee sohaaganee jin gur kaa het apaar |2| The happy and pure soul-bride is noble; she has infinite love for the Guru. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾ ਭਾਗੈ ਕਾ ਉਦਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ poorai bhaag satagur milai jaa bhaagai kaa udau hoe | By perfect good fortune, one meets the True Guru, when one’s destiny is awakened. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਤਰਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ antarahu dukh bhram katteeai sukh paraapat hoe | Suffering and doubt are cut out from within, and peace is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥ gur kai bhaanai jo chalai dukh na paavai koe |3| One who walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will shall not suffer in pain. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ gur ke bhaane vich amrit hai sahaje paavai koe | The Amrit, the Ambrosial Nectar, is in the Guru’s Will. With intuitive ease, it is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਖੋਇ ॥ jinaa paraapat tin peea haumai vichahu khoe | Those who are destined to have it, drink it in; their egotism is eradicated from within. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੪੬॥ naanak guramukh naam dhiaaeeai sach milaavaa hoe |4|13|46| O Nanak, the Gurmukh meditates on the Naam, and is united with the True Lord. ||4||13||46|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਗੈ ਧਰੇਇ ॥ jaa pir jaanai aapanaa tan man agai dharee | If you know that He is your Husband Lord, offer your body and mind to Him. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੀਆ ਸੇਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ sohaaganee karam kamaavadeea seee karam karee | Behave like the happy and pure soul-bride. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੜਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੧॥ sahaje saach milaavarraa saach vaddaaee dee |1| With intuitive ease, you shall merge with the True Lord, and He shall bless you with true greatness. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ bhaaee re gur bin bhagat na hoe | O Siblings of Destiny, without the Guru, there is no devotional worship. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bin gur bhagat na paaeeai je lochai sabh koe |1| rahaau | Without the Guru, devotion is not obtained, even though everyone may long for it. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫੇਰੁ ਪਇਆ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ lakh chauraaseeh fer peaa kaaman doojai bhaae | The soul-bride in love with duality goes around the wheel of reincarnation, through 8.4 million incarnations. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ bin gur need na aavee dukhee rain vihaae | Without the Guru, she finds no sleep, and she passes her life-night in pain. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ bin sabadai pir na paaeeai birathaa janam gavaae |2| Without the Shabad, she does not find her Husband Lord, and her life wastes away in vain. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
